LEO JOY HEINEN

Leo Joy Heinen is a queer interdisciplinary artist based in Minneapolis. They work across mediums such as puppetry, performance, creative writing, wood, modular sculpture, clay, paper making, fiber arts, book arts, music, electricity, and found materials. Leo finds and invents magic through their creative explorations. They're currently focused on storytelling, and they plan to release an illustrated short story accompanied by a large-scale puppet performance.  Leo is often drawn to narratives surrounding healing, magical realism, community, queerness, and nature. They earned their Bachelors of Fine Arts in Ceramics and Sculpture at University of Wisconsin Madison in 2022.
